The overtime rate is only half the question. The other half is how many hours get it, and that depends on how the week adds up. By default every hour past 40 in a workweek is a time-and-a-half hour. If your job also pays it after 8 hours in a day, tick “Daily overtime”.
Rates with cents create fractions of a cent. At $18.75 an hour, time and a half is $28.125. The calculator keeps the exact rate while it multiplies and rounds each pay line to the cent once, at the end, so 5 overtime hours come to $140.63 instead of 5 × $28.13 = $140.65.

Time and a half in three steps
First, find the overtime rate: hourly rate × 1.5. Second, find the overtime hours: hours worked in the week minus 40. Third, multiply them, then add your regular pay for the first 40 hours.
For five 9-hour days at $18.75: 45 hours, so 5 overtime hours. Regular pay is 40 × $18.75 = $750.00. Overtime pay is 5 × $28.125 = $140.625, which rounds to $140.63. Estimated gross: $890.63.
A small overtime is still overtime. Four 10-hour days plus a 30-minute Friday is 40.5 hours, so half an hour is paid at time and a half: 0.5 × $30 = $15 at a $20 rate.
Questions
What is time and a half for $15 an hour?
$22.50 an hour. Multiply $15 by 1.5, or add half of $15 ($7.50) to $15. Five hours at that rate is $112.50.
What is time and a half for $20 an hour?
$30 an hour. Half of $20 is $10, and $20 + $10 = $30. Eight overtime hours would be $240 before tax.
Is an hour and a half the same as time and a half?
No. An hour and a half is a length of time: 1.5 hours, or 1 hour 30 minutes. Time and a half is a pay rate: 1.5 times your normal hourly rate.
Do I get time and a half for every hour in the week?
No, only the overtime hours. The first 40 hours of the week are paid at your normal rate; time and a half applies to the hours after that, and to daily overtime hours if your job counts those.
My overtime is paid at double time, not 1.5. Can I change it?
Yes. Change “Overtime multiplier” under Pay rules from 1.5 to 2, or keep 1.5 and set “Double time (2×) after” for the hours past a daily limit.
