The Excel file splits regular and overtime hours separately for week 1 and week 2, then adds both weeks into an estimated gross pay if you enter your rate. That split matters: a long first week and a short second week can still owe overtime, even when the two-week total is 80 hours or less.

Prefer paper? The blank PDF has the same 14 rows on one page. Or fill in the two weeks online below; the period starts on the date set under Pay rules, and ‹ Prev / Next › move a whole period at a time.

Which days belong to which pay period

A biweekly period is 14 days long and the next one starts the day after it ends, so every period begins on the same weekday. With periods starting on Sunday, November 1, the first runs November 1 to 14 and the next November 15 to 28.

In the worked example, shifts on November 2 and November 12 fall in the first period, 16 hours in total. A shift on November 16 belongs to the next period, so it isn’t counted here.

If your first day on the sheet is wrong, every later period is off too. Copy the start date from a pay stub so the timesheet lines up with how you’re actually paid.

Questions

How is overtime worked out on a biweekly timesheet?

Week by week. The sheet checks week 1 and week 2 against the weekly limit (40 to begin with) separately, then adds them up. It never treats the period as 80 hours.

How do I set the dates?

In the Excel file, type the first day of your pay period in the first date cell and the following days below it. Online, set “First day of a two-week period” under Pay rules.

Is biweekly the same as twice a month?

No. Biweekly is every 14 days, which is 26 pay periods a year. Twice a month (semimonthly) is 24 a year, usually the 1st to 15th and the 16th to the end of the month.

Can I print it on one page?

Yes. The PDF fits all 14 days, the totals and both signature lines on one US Letter page.

Does it include lunch breaks?

Yes. Each day has an unpaid break column in minutes, which comes off that day’s hours. Leave it blank if you took no unpaid break.
