An hours tracker app for checking your pay
If you’re paid by the hour, the hours on your pay stub are the thing to check. Pocket Timesheet keeps your own record of every shift, so when payday comes you can compare the stub with what you actually worked: regular hours, overtime, and the gross pay they should add up to.

It’s built around two kinds of work. Shift workers, whose weeks change and whose overtime depends on long days and long weeks. And home caregivers and nannies, who often log overnight shifts and need a timesheet the family can sign.
Pocket Timesheet is coming to iPhone and isn’t available yet. You can try the counting now with the calculator above, which uses the same pay rules as the app.
Worked example: 10-hour day with the daily rule: 2 hours overtime
$20.00/h · overtime over 40 h a week or 8 h a day at 1.5×
| Day | Start | End | Breaks |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mon, Nov 2 | 08:00 | 18:00 | none |
10.00 hours (10:00): regular 8.00, overtime 2.00. Estimated gross $220.00: regular $160.00 + overtime $60.00.
Why an hours tracker catches pay mistakes
Most pay mistakes are small and easy to miss: a shift that ran 20 minutes over, a break deducted that you didn’t take, overtime counted by the pay period instead of the week. A record you keep yourself, shift by shift, is what makes them visible.
In the worked example, a single 10-hour day under a daily 8-hour rule has 2 overtime hours. At $20 an hour that’s $160 regular plus $60 overtime, $220 in all. If the stub shows 10 regular hours, the record shows why it should be $20 more.
Questions
What should an hours tracker app do?
Record every shift with its breaks, handle shifts past midnight, total the week, split regular and overtime hours, and give you something to hand in or compare with your pay stub. Pocket Timesheet is being built to do all of that.
Will the hours tracker be free?
There will be a free version with no limit on entries, including overtime and a PDF timesheet of the current pay period. Pro adds extra jobs, custom rules, history export, reminders, widgets and backup.
Can caregivers use it for overnight shifts?
Yes. A shift from 20:00 to 08:00 counts as 12 hours, and with a daily rule on, the hours are split at midnight between the two days.
Can I track two jobs?
More than one job is part of Pro, each with its own rate and rules.
Is my data uploaded anywhere?
No. Your shifts stay on your phone. Pro can save a backup file to your own iCloud Drive.
