Hourly to salary calculator
Enter an hourly wage and see what it adds up to in a year, a month, every two weeks and a week. Or switch to “a yearly salary to hourly” to see what a salary works out to per hour. Both use the hours you actually work each week and how many weeks a year you’re paid.

The usual shortcut, an hourly rate × 2,080, assumes exactly 40 hours a week for all 52 weeks. That’s right for some jobs and wrong for many shift workers. At 32 hours a week, $20 an hour is $33,280 a year, not $41,600, and two unpaid weeks off take away another two weeks of pay.
Every figure here is gross pay: what you earn before tax, insurance and other deductions. Take-home pay depends on your withholding and benefits, so it isn’t estimated on this page.
Worked example: $20 an hour, 40 hours a week, 52 weeks
| Hourly | $20.00 |
|---|---|
| A year | $41,600.00 |
| A month | $3,466.67 |
| Every two weeks | $1,600.00 |
| A week | $800.00 |
How to calculate annual income from an hourly wage
Multiply the hourly rate by the hours you work in a week, then by the weeks you’re paid in a year. $20 × 40 × 52 = $41,600. For a month, divide the year by 12: $3,466.67. For every two weeks, take two weeks’ pay: $1,600.
To go from a salary to an hourly rate, divide the salary by the hours in a year. $45,000 ÷ (40 × 52) = $45,000 ÷ 2,080 = $21.63 an hour, rounded to the cent. The calculator keeps the year exactly as you typed it and rounds each of the other lines once.
